Kent State’s Fashion School Receives Morgan Foundation Impact Award

The Fashion School at Kent State University is the recipient of the 2016 Impact Award for Excellence in Education, presented by the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation.

The Morgan Foundation — an organization dedicated to mental wellness, the arts and education in Northeast Ohio and a longtime partner of the Fashion School — honored the school at a gala on Nov. 10. The event included the debut of a new video, created by the foundation, highlighting the school’s impact on students, the community and the fashion industry.

Each year, the Morgan Foundation Impact Awards recognize institutions and individuals making a difference in each of the foundation’s focus areas. The other honorees this year were the Akron Civic Theatre (Excellence in Arts), Child Guidance and Family Solutions (Excellence in Mental Health) and Alison Malmon of Active Minds Inc. (Compass Award).

Margaret Clark Morgan, who died in 2013, was a tireless champion of Kent State's Fashion School. An immensely generous donor, she established scholarship and technology endowments along with her husband Burton D. Morgan. She was honored with the Fashion School’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014, accepted on her behalf by her daughters Mary Morgan-Graves and Suzanne Morgan.
