Counselor Education and Supervision Accreditation


Kent State University’s Counselor Education and Supervision programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) through March 2024.

About CACREP

CACREP is an accrediting body for counseling and its specialties at the master’s and doctoral degree levels. Here at Kent State, CACREP accredits the following three programs on an eight-year cycle: School Counseling (M.Ed.)Counselor Education and Supervision (Ph.D.)Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.Ed.)

Accreditation Standards

The 2016 CACREP Standards:​

  6. Doctoral Standards Counselor Education and Supervision

An updated set of standards is expected to be published in the summer of 2022 and implemented July 1, 2023.
