Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a Martins Ferry High School graduating senior to their wrestling team. On June 20, Dom Wallace signed a Letter of Intent to wrestle for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles Wrestling Team.
Wallace was a four-year letter winner for the Purple Riders wrestling team and was also a four-year letter winner in football and baseball. He compiled a 46-4 record as a senior and was a two-time district and state qualifier in wrestling during his junior and senior seasons. He finished third at the Ohio High School Athletic Association Wrestling Championships this year, while also placing third in the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference (OVAC) in 2017. He won the Barnesville Invitational along with being crowned champion of the New Lexington Jimmy Wood Invitational and the Buckeye 8 Conference during his senior season. Wallace also starred for the football team where he earned First Team East District honors, was named an OVAC All-Star and All-Ohioan as a senior. In baseball, he was a starting third baseman for Martins Ferry which won the school’s first district championship since 1976, but lost in the regional semifinals to eventual state champion Berlin Hiland.
“We are very pleased to have Dom commit to our campus and the wrestling team,” said Dave Schlarb, Head Wrestling Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. “He is a stellar athlete and has the tools to become a national champion in wrestling. His athletic resume is littered with successes and it takes a lot of heart and strong will to accomplish the things he has done at multiple levels. There is no doubt in my mind that his success will continue and that he will become a great ambassador for our campus and his own community.”
Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
