Nicotine Replacement Therapy

Various smoking cessation aids have been proven to help individuals become tobacco-free. Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a broad category that covers several products such as the nicotine patch, nicotine gum, lozenges, nasal spray, and inhalers. A more comprehensive overview of these products is provided during the Freedom From Smoking program.

The Food and Drug Administration has issued a health advisory for healthcare professionals and individuals whom utilize Chantix® to quit smoking.

University Health Services is committed to the health, safety and well-being of all students. As we continue to offer smoking cessation programs, we will be following the recommendations of the FDA health advisory. We ask that clients requesting Chantix® as a smoking cessation aid visit a primary care provider for screening and a prescription. Appointments for the screening may also be made here at University Health Services.
