A hard-fought fourth quarter came up short as Kent State University’s women’s basketball team fell to the University of Michigan Wolverines on Thursday, March 16, by a score of 67-60. A first-round game of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), the game took place at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It marked the first WNIT appearance for the Golden Flashes since 2011.

In the second quarter, Kent State guard and Mid-American Conference (MAC) Player of the Year Larissa Lurken made her 276th free throw, breaking the NCAA record for free throws made in a season. The previous record was set in 1982.
