Small Group and Golf: An Equation for Love
Our Story
We both lived in the Small Group dorms. Doug’s roommate, Ned Weaver, introduced us. They were both on the Golf Team. Doug was pre-med, and I was in nursing so we studied together in the library. I graduated a year before he did and that year apart showed us we wanted to be back together!
The Proposal and Marriage
Doug proposed to me while he was in medical school, and I was in graduate school. Neither of us had a full time job, but our KSU preparation was soon to kick in; we both had good jobs! Also, best friend Ned Weaver was our best man!
Staying Connected to Kent State Today
The golf team was such an important part of Doug’s life that he still supports them. Our connection is also kept up through his longtime friendship with Coach Herb Page. Our son also went to Kent and was a member of the Golf Team. Our daughter transferred to Kent and graduated in Interior Design. We are lifetime alumni members!
