What a night it was at this winter wonderland! Sparkling lights lit up the ice rink as alumni and friends glided by. An acapella group and the spirit of Golden Flashes added to the magic of this winter night.
Golden Flashes escaped the winter blues at Alumni Skate Night this past weekend on Jan. 28. Attendees took a break from ice skating to enjoy some tasty treats and a hot chocolate bar inside the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center. Alumni Skate Night connected many alumni with their Kent State experiences, bringing back nostalgia from their time there.
Elizabeth Soreo, '20, enjoyed hitting the ice with her friends and boyfriend. "I attended this event just for funsies and to come back to Kent,” she said. “I have not been here in awhile and wanted to explore the town."
Lisa Perko, ’91, was very excited to be a part of the event and support Kent State and the community. She came with her best friend who is also a graduate. “It was a blast. My daughter just graduated so I am very connected to Kent.”
For an extra touch of entertainment, Kent State's student acapella group sang enchanting tunes. Logan Peters, a member of the acapella group and current Kent State student, laughed as he said, "the experience was cold and very unexpected for the ones skating. I don’t think they expected us to sing for them."
Alumni Skate Night was a splendid time filled with snow, chatter, music, hot cocoa and, of course, a lot of ice skating!
