Communications Major

Alex Long is a senior Communication Studies major who hopes to use his experiences inside and outside of the classroom to make a big impact in the courtroom.

Alex serves as the President of Kent State’s chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association’s official honor society. Through Lambda Pi Eta, he has been able to network with other like-minded students hoping to make a difference in the communications field. By serving as President, Alex has also been able to practice his leadership and public speaking skills, as well as working alongside faculty and staff in CCI.

After graduation, Long plans on attending law school to become an attorney.

“In my opinion, the best aspect of pursuing a degree in Communication Studies is the versatility of the major. Students can couple their major with specific courses, minors, and other majors that will equip them with the skills necessary to be successful in whatever career path they plan to pursue after graduation. Like many of us, I was unsure of what I wanted to do when initially tasked with selecting a major. Luckily, a degree in Communication Studies provides students with countless avenues after graduation, so I had the opportunity to explore various career paths while pursuing my degree.”

Alex has a minor in Pre-Law and his favorite classes he has taken through CCI are Freedom of Speech, Communication and Terrorism, and Communication and Conflict.
