LDES Alumnus Named Practioner of the Year

 

Long-Term Care Administration alumnus Tom Durbin, '14, B.S., was recently awarded Practitioner of the Year at the Annual Ohio Association of Gerontology and Education (OAGE) 2025 Conference held at Bowling Green State University.

Durbin was nominated by Donna Alexander, LNHA, MBA, CDP, associate lecturer in the Long-term Care Administration progam in the School of Lifespan, Development and Educational Sciences. He currently serves as executive director at Ohio Living Rockynol in Akron.

The OAGE Practitioner Award recognizes individuals/organizations who work or live in Ohio, and whose work either has improved services to older adults through research and evaluation, or has developed noteworthy partnerships with institutions of higher learning, such as universities, community colleges and technical schools, for the betterment of older adults living within the state.

Over a dozen members of the Kent State Gerontology Club were also in attendance.
