Mike Daniels, doctoral student in Higher Education Administration, presented Conducting a Diversity (MRI): Being Mindful, Realistic and Intentional at the Ohio Consortium of Multicultural Centers in Higher Education 2019 Spring conference. The conference was held on April 12, 2019, at Kent Student Center.
Daniels's session allowed for emerging leaders (graduate students to new professionals) to learn how to prepare to go into diversity work. The process of conducting “CT Scans” throughout your professional journey in order to learn how to best navigate the inevitable challenges one might face as they engage in multicultural work. This process incorporates the six “CT Scans” to help one identify Comparison Traps, Center Things, plan out your Career Track, identify your Care Team, discern your Credit Takers and understand what you’re Called To.
OCMCHE was founded in 2008 by members from nine institutions in Ohio, including Kent State University. The consortium aims to promote diversity and share multicultural resources to partner universities and communities.
