Dr. Nathan Stevenson

Dr. Nathan A. Stevenson is an associate professor in the area of mild/moderate educational needs at Kent State University. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in core instruction, classroom management, inclusive practices, and research design. He earned his doctorate in special education from Michigan State University. Dr. Stevenson began his career as an elementary classroom teacher with New York City Public Schools. He has taught students with disabilities in inclusive settings throughout his career. Dr. Stevenson has also worked as a consultant, lecturer, and instructional coach for local and regional education service providers. His research interests include the development of systems to support struggling learners (i.e., RtI, PBIS and MTSS), inclusive practices, and assessment. He has presented nationally and internationally on the topics of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, Curriculum-Based Measurement, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, Assessment and Universal Design for Learning.

Dr. Stevenson has published numerous articles and book chapters. He is co-author of the book Research in Special Education: Designs, Methods and Applications (3rd Ed.)

He his Co-editor for the research journal Assessment for Effective Intervention.
