I found my love of higher education while working with students on academic probation as an undergraduate student at Ohio University. I decided to take a two year break from school and gain work experience before starting graduate school at Kent State University in 2010 in the Higher Education Administration and Student Personnel program. While in graduate school, I worked in the Center for Adult and Veteran Services where I recruited veterans to come to Kent State to further their education. My internships during graduate school were at Ursuline College, Cuyahoga Community College, and Notre Dame College. I obtained full-time employment at Hiram College after graduation where I worked with adult students in the Weekend College program. After about a year, I transitioned into Hiram College's community college partnership where I worked with students at Lorain County Community College who were earning their bachelor's degree on LCCC's campus through Hiram.
I am so glad to have found my home back at Kent State in EHHS! I understand my students may still be finding who they are in a large university setting, and I am here to support them through their journey. I love to advise students on how to get the best out of their education and guide them along the way for their future personal and academic successes. My student-centered advising approach showcases that my interest lies in keeping students engaged and on-track for graduation while building a great working relationship along the way.
My personal interests include local art shows, antiquing, Cleveland Browns football, and watching documentaries.
