    Biography

As a Professor of PreK-12 Educational Leadership, Christa works to encourage school leaders to promote humanity in schools, especially for children and families from historically disenfranchised populations. Christa's line of inquiry focuses on the intersections of the cognitive and affective domains of school leadership with a particular focus on how school leaders transform their sense of self to lead for social justice and equity in schools. This line of inquiry is organized into three specific areas of interest: A) The influence of beliefs and attitudes on school practices, B) Pedagogical practices and programmatic structures within preparation programs, and C) The study and support of school leaders as they address social justice issues within their school communities.

Since 2010, Christa curated leading for social justice art exhibitions at renown galleries including, but not limited to the Akron Art Museum , Cleveland Museum of Art, and Summit Art Space. Her one-of-a-kind community-based work has reached over 10,000 audience members. Christa works alongside aspiring school leaders, K-12 schools, and community artists to create these innovative and thought-provoking exhibitions to deepen how we understand injustices facing school communities.

Christa also worked with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Esperanza, Minority Male Achievement, Ambition Limitless, Honor Good Deeds, Dare2Care, Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN), Parents Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), Equality Ohio, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Northeast Ohio Diversity Center, Sistah Sinema, Welcoming Schools, CANAPI, Medina Out, school leaders, and teachers to create free workshops promoting culturally responsive practices and policies to make school safe for all children.

Over the last three years, the Cuyahoga County ESC provided an in-kind donation for the aspiring school leaders in Christa’s Principalship course to host the only free regional conference in Ohio for K-12 students, community members, social workers/counselors, teachers, staff, school leaders, families, and community members. Hundreds of people have attended this annual event and look forward to engaging in authentic regional work with our graduate students.

Christa's most recent research has been published in journals including, but not limited to: Journal of School Leadership, National Forum Journal of Supervision, SOJO (Social Justice Journal), Frontiers Leadership in Education, International Journal of Multicultural Education, Journal of Research, Leadership and Education, Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership, Multicultural and Technology Journal, Journal of Curriculum Theorizing, High School Journal, International Journal of Educational Management, Planning and Changing, Journal of Educational Considerations. She edited several books including books with K-12 students, teachers, and community members who were first-time authors (see books by Christa Boske). Her books continue to receive outstanding reviews from scholars such as Lisa Delpit, Geneva Gay, George Theoharis, Margaret Grogan, Ira Bogotch, Fenwick English, Michael Dantley, as well as other outstanding scholars and organizational leaders. Christa has also presented more than 70 national/international presentations and published over 25 book chapters. Connect with her on LinkedIn.
