Minyoung Gil, Ph.D.
Biography
Dr. Minyoung Gil is an Assistant Professor in the School of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Studies at Kent State University. Her research develops along two interconnected strands. The first examines young children’s learning in science and engineering, with particular attention to engineering design, decision-making, and classroom interactions. The second focuses on preservice and in-service teacher education, especially with multicultural education, professional learning, and teachers’ use of emerging technologies such as generative AI to support play-based pedagogy. Across both strands, her work draws primarily on qualitative, video-based, and collaborative research approaches and is informed by her prior experience as a kindergarten teacher in South Korea.
