A book published by the Kent State University Press has won the 2016 IBPA Benjamin Franklin gold award in the Body, Mind and Spirit category.
When the Nurse Becomes a Patient is a memoir of illness and healing by Cortney Davis, a nurse practitioner and author of several other publications.
“We are proud to have published this award-winning medical humanities volume!” says Will Underwood, director of the Kent State University Press. “This is the third national award for Cortney’s book. It’s a real feather in the cap for her and Kent State University.”
The IBPA Awards recognize excellence in book editorial and design, and are regarded as one of the highest national honors for independent publishers. This is the second gold Ben Franklin Award that the Kent State University Press has received for its books. All Man!: Hemingway, 1950s Men’s Magazines, and the Masculine Persona by David M. Earle won a gold award in 2010.
