Student Recreation and Wellness Center Wellness Workshop: Food Allergies

There are many misconceptions about food allergies. In fact, most people suffer from food intolerances not allergies or from inappropriate pairings of foods that can cause the illusion of an allergy.

On Thursday, Aug. 16, from 5:30-6:30 p.m., we will sort it all out and cover the following topics:

  • Lactose intolerance.
  • Lactose allergy.
  • Casein intolerance.
  • Gluten intolerance.
  • Gluten allergy (Celiac disease).
  • Combination foods and how to treat each one.

The presenter will be Tanya R. Falcone, M.S., RD, LD, coordinator for Kent State University’s Center of Nutrition Outreach in the School of Health Sciences. This session will be held in the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, Seminar Room B and is open to students and all full- and part-time faculty and staff. Space is limited and registration is required. For full-time, benefits-eligible employees participating in the Wellness Your Way program, this session will be worth 10 points toward your Tier Two total.
