The Kent State University at Stark Theatre has announced open auditions for its third theatrical production of the season, 26 Pebbles, a docudrama that incorporates verbatim interview excerpts from Newtown, Connecticut, residents recounting the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
Directed by Brian Newberg, Kent State Stark associate professor of theatre and theatre director, 26 Pebbles transports audiences to Newtown months after the massacre. Playwright Eric Ulloa’s work delves into the aftermath of unthinkable tragedy and the resulting push forward toward healing.
Auditions for 26 Pebbles are open to everyone, including students and members of the community. Kent State Stark encourages diversity in casting.
Auditions will be held at 6 p.m. on Jan. 30 and 31 in the Fine Arts Theatre located at 6000 Frank Ave. NW in Jackson Township.

Those auditioning may perform a prepared monologue, if they wish, and the director also may choose sides (selected scene excerpts). The production will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on April 13-14 and April 20-21, and at 2 p.m. on April 15 and 22. During the April 22 performance, American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided.
