The NYC Studio program exposed me to a world of fashion careers that I didn’t know existed. Each amazing professor prepared me for the reality of working in our industry and helped to build my confidence through knowledge and support. I used to get nervous public speaking until I took Fashion Entrepreneurship with Mark Osborne. During our semester project we would present each different phase of our business plan. I’ll never forget his advice “Stop reciting, just be yourself — you have no problem talking and you know your subject well.” That has stuck with me and it’s what I think before I get up to speak in front of anyone. I wouldn’t be where I am today without this program!

The New York City program completely changed my life. Coming from a small town I was very scared of the city and for the first 2 years of college I schemed for a way to work in fashion and NOT live in a city. I thought the NYC program would be a great way to test if I could handle it and it was absolutely incredible. Exploring, interning, and learning in the city gave me an incredible amount of confidence and just gave me a sense of “I can do this.” By the end of the semester I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Following graduation I moved back and I love it as much today as I did my junior year. I might never have found my love for the city had it not been for the NYC program.

The NYC studio gave me lifelong mentors and strong connections in the fashion industry! All the professors have years of experience in the industry and because the fashion industry moves so quickly you need to learn from people with that kind of insight.

I studied at the NYC studio during my Fall 2012 semester and this experience definitely helped me get to where I am today! After living in NYC for a semester I fell in love with the city and knew then that my goal was to move back after graduation. My internship, studio classes and study tour all helped me gain confidence in my work through real life scenarios, as well as learn my way around the city - specifically the garment district which became invaluable when starting my career in NYC after graduation.
