Messages of congratulations and displays of Kent State University pride flooded social media as the Kent State men’s basketball team captured the 2017 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Men's Basketball Tournament Championship title and was selected as a No. 14 seed to play the UCLA Bruins in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Kent State students, alumni, employees, community members and fans of the Golden Flashes celebrated the unexpected achievement of the men’s basketball team winning four straight games to become MAC Tournament Champions and advance to the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
Congratulatory messages from some famous Golden Flashes included Drew Carey, actor, comedian and host of “The Price Is Right”; Julian Edelman, wide receiver for the Super Bowl champions New England Patriots; and Josh Cribbs, three-time NFL Pro Bowler.
