Matthew Minichillo would run to the ends of the earth for his daughter Hannah, who is battling multiple sclerosis. And he almost did. Minichillo completed more than seven marathons in seven days, running from Ft. Wayne, Indiana, passing through Kent, Ohio on his way to Hudson with the goal of showing his support and helping to raise money for a cure.
Minichillo, assistant dean for Academic and Student Services in Kent State University’s College of the Arts and Sciences, ran a portion of the MS Run the US Relay that started in California and ended in New York.
“As a parent, you want to provide a better life for your child,” Minichillo told the Record Courier. “This threw a wrench in that. If your kids are hurting, you want to try to make it better and I really can’t do that as quick as I want. My wife and I cried more than we ever cried together. I thought I have to do something to find a cure.”
