Overview
Dankook University is a private research university in Yongin, South Korea; a 30 minute bus ride from central Seoul. Kent State students have the opportunity to study at Dankook University for an academic year, semester or summer term. Dankook has two campuses: main campus in Jukjeon and their regional campus in Cheonan. Dankook offers a variety of classes taught in English, students can choose from business, communication, art, humanities, political science, cultural studies, Korean language, and more. A specific benefits from studying at Dankook University is the option to participate in a tutoring program and assist in leading an English language class. Participation in the tutoring program will give students the opportunity to take a free Korean language class and to live on campus for free!
Location
Situated in Yongin, a Seoul suburb within a 30 minute bus ride from central Seoul, the DKU campus features many state-of-the-art facilities for teaching, learning, and entertainment.
Academics
Courses are taught fully in English in a variety of subject areas. Student can choose any courses and can mix courses from different departments within the same campus. The courses include the following:
- Arts
- Business
- Engineering
- Humanities
- Music
- Social Sciences
- ...and more!
Students may also take Korean Language and Culture courses, designed to help incoming international students with little or no previous knowledge of the language. To maintain full-time status, students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours while abroad.
Living at Dankook University
Students will live in fully-furnished double occupancy room at the on-campus dormitory in Woobing Hall. Each room is furnished with 2 single beds, bedding, desks, chairs, wardrobes, a telephone, internet connection, and a private bathroom. A variety of facilities are also available for student's convenience such as a coin operated laundry room, restaurant, fitness center, convenience store, etc.
Meal plans are not offered at DKU, but students will find a variety of cafeterias, food courts, coffee shops, bakeries, and vending machines to suit every palate.
Students that are interested in teaching their native language and exchaging culture with Korean students can participate in teh Language Tutoring Program. If accepted in the program, student will not only experience teaching their language and getting acquainted with Korean students but will also have FREE on-campus accommodation for the semester.
