Overview

The University of Haifa is one of the largest research universities in Israel, and believes in combining academic excellence with social responsibility. The university hosts students from over 40 different countries.


Location

Haifa is the third largest city in Israel. The city is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea via the Bay of Haifa, and is backed by Mount Carmel. Haifa is an ancient city with a history dating back to the pre-Roman era. 

 

 


Academics

Courses are taught fully in English, with the exception of some language courses, in a variety of subject areas, including the following:

  • Arabic
  • British and American Literature
  • Communications
  • Contemporary Israel and Middle East Studies
  • Creative Art (taught in Hebrew and for Art majors only)
  • Hebrew
  • Humanities
  • Peace and Conflict Studies
  • Social Sciences

Intensive Hebrew language courses are available at an additional cost. To maintain full-time status, students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours while abroad. 


Living in Haifa

Students live on campus in one of the two student dormitories: Federman Dorms or Talia Dorms.

  • Full-time, degree-seeking student at Kent State
  • Sophomore, junior, or senior at the time of participation
  • Any major
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0 or higher
