JOB DESCRIPTION:

Cleaning and maintaining my building (Deweese Health Center) and making sure everything is sanitary for both staff and students, to the highest possible grade. Maintaining a safe and clean place to work.

EMPLOYMENT PRIOR TO KENT STATE UNIVERSITY:

I was a server for a while, and I also worked at a golf course.

ATTRACTION TO KENT STATE AS AN EMPLOYER:

The number one thing was wanting insurance and going back to school. And truthfully, having an LGBTQ friendly environment that feels more inclusive and welcoming. I knew I'd have more protection, and I'd be in an environment where I'd be safer.

LIKES MOST ABOUT KENT STATE UNIVERSITY:

In general just working with good people and making good memories every day. And getting to know the other employees at the Deweese Health Center. And how they appreciate the work I do. It's nice working at a place where people actually say "thank you" and actually recognize you for the work you do.

FAVORITE MEMORY WHILE AT KENT STATE:

Spending the time with coworkers and supervisors. Also, a woman in my building once gave me a little Christmas gift. It was a Starbucks gift card and some candy, very thoughtful.

PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT WHILE AT KENT STATE:

The building I was working with had always had a complaint before about the way the job got done, and the level of hygiene. But after I started working there we got Number 1, a building that got the best rating of hygiene and cleanliness. We even beat the Student Center, who always wins. Good acknowledgement, made me feel good.
