During the summer months, particularly May 23 through August 5, supervisors were encouraged to work with their employees to identify additional opportunities to implement flexible work arrangements and telecommuting. Thank you to those who participated in such arrangements for maintaining an excellent level of work during this time period. We hope this flexibility aided in your efforts to make Kent State an even better place.

All approved Summer Telecommuting and Flexible Work Arrangements conclude on August 5, 2022. After August 5, employees must return to their customary work schedule and location, unless otherwise approved for an ongoing flexible work arrangement and/or telecommuting arrangement. 

We realize supervisors and employees may have questions surrounding the transition from Summer Telecommuting and Flexible Work Arrangements, specifically as it relates to instructions for maintaining or adopting flexible work and telecommuting arrangements going forward. To this end, Human Resources has created a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) to assist supervisors and employees in determining the correct plan of action for their individual situations. 

Please read the following carefully and review the FAQs for further information.

Telecommuting: For tax withholding purposes, permanent addresses must be collected for those who are telecommuting. All employees wishing to telecommute after August 5, 2022, must execute a new telecommuting arrangement request form via DocuSign, even if they had an arrangement established prior to May 23, 2022. 

Flexible work arrangements established prior to May 23, 2022, will continue without the need for renewal unless the arrangement needs to be updated, or the arrangement is terminated by the employee and supervisor using the FWA Termination Form.

Please note that outside of the summer-only arrangements, telecommuting and flexible work arrangements must be applied for and approved through separate processes.
