Establish your Kent State student account in FlashLine
Your first (and very important!) step is to log in to FlashLine and establish your Kent State student account. FlashLine is a virtual hub of information that you will use throughout your time as a Kent State student.
Get Started
- To log in for the first time, go to welcome.kent.edu.
- Enter your Kent State email address (ex. "janedoe@kent.edu"). This can be found in the "Your FlashLine Credentials" email you received after you were admitted.
- To create your temporary password, enter the following information in the drop down boxes:
- The month you were born.
- The year you were born.
- The last five digits of your Kent State Identification Number. This can be found in your admission letter.
- Once you have successfully logged in with this temporary password, you will be prompted to select a new password. You will also be asked to provide an alternate email address and answer challenge questions that you can use to reset your password in case it is forgotten.
- After you establish your account, please save your FlashLine credentials somewhere safe.
Returning users should log in to FlashLine directly at flashline.kent.edu.
If you need login assistance, contact the Help Desk at 330-672-4357 or go to support.kent.edu.

Request your chosen name
Creating and embracing an inclusive environment is important to the mission of Kent State University. We recognize that some students use a name other than their legal name to identify themselves, so Kent State has established a process for students to request a chosen name. We suggest completing this before you arrive on campus.
Here are the steps for indicating a chosen name:
- Log in to FlashLine and select "Student" in the left-hand column.
- Under "Student," select "Resources."
- Under "Resources," select "Requests and Authorizations."
- The webpage will be displayed; double click on "Chosen Name Request."
-
Plan your arrival
