Establish your Kent State account in FlashLine
FlashLine is Kent State’s secure online portal and is the gateway to world-class Intranet services.
Follow the instructions for a new user. Once logged in, you can review your student checklist. Details about logging in are below.
- To log in for the first time, go to login.kent.edu, click on “Start here” after “New user?“
- Enter your username. This is the first part of your email address (ex. “janedoe@kent.edu” is “janedoe”). Refer to your admission letter for your Kent State email address and your username.
- New students are given a temporary password when their account is created. Enter your temporary password.
- The format of the password is: mmmyyxxxxx where:
- mmm = first three letters of the birth month
- yy = last two digits of the birth year
- xxxxx = last five digits of the Kent State Identification Number (see admission letter).
- Once you have successfully logged in with this temporary password, you will be prompted to select a new password. You are also asked to provide an alternate email address and to answer challenge questions that you can use to reset your password in case it is forgotten.

Transfer Students Entering the Fall 2025 Semester
- December 2024 – Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens for 2025-26 academic year
- Feb. 1, 2025 – On-campus housing application opens
- Feb. 1, 2025 – Transfer Kent State (TKS) orientation registration opens
- TBD – Residence hall move-in begins
- Aug. 14-17, 2025 – KSU Kickoff begins
- Aug. 18, 2025 – Fall classes begin
Transfer Students Entering the Spring 2025 Semester
- December 2024 – Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens for 2025-26 academic year
- Oct. 15, 2024 – Transfer Kent State (TKS) orientation registration opens

Transfer Credit Evaluation
A Transfer Credit Evaluation is a report of how your credits transferred from your previous school(s) and is provided to all transfer students. You will receive an email notification in your kent.edu email account once your Transfer Credit Evaluation is complete.
This is helpful to review prior to attending TKS, where you will register for classes.
How to Review
To access your report, log in to your FlashLine account and follow these steps:
- Click on the "Student" category on the left, then expand the "Resources" section. Next, click on "Advising and GPS."
- In the "Advising and GPS" section, click on "GPS Audit and Plan." A new window will open.
- On the left side of the page, under the "GPS Audits" tab, click on "What-If."
- Under the "What-If" blue bar, choose the following options in the corresponding drop-down boxes:
- Level: Undergraduate
- Degree: Transfer Articulation
- Catalog: your catalog year
- Above the "What-If" blue bar, click the "Process What-If" button.
- Your transfer evaluation will open.
- If you have trouble accessing your FlashLine account, call 330-672-HELP for assistance.

Register for Transfer Kent State (TKS)
Your college journey continues at Kent State at student orientation – Transfer Kent State (TKS)! You can register for TKS orientation in your Applicant Portal.
Registration opens Oct. 15 for incoming spring students and Feb. 1 for incoming fall students. TKS is a required orientation program where you will meet with your academic advisor and schedule all your classes.

Learn about financial aid

Submit your final college transcripts
If you had in-progress coursework or have completed additional classes since your initial transcript was submitted, forward your final transcripts to the Admissions Office.

Pay your $95 enrollment fee in your applicant portal
Confirm your attendance by paying the $95 Transfer Enrollment Fee online through your applicant portal.

Sign up for housing, parking and FLASHCards
Take care of day-to-day living needs! Housing, parking and your Kent State ID are key daily essentials. Tackle these in any order you choose - but be certain you check these items off of your must-do list.
Housing
- If you are looking to live on campus, submit your application on the University Housing website. Applications for housing open Oct. 15 for incoming spring students and Feb. 1 for incoming fall students.
Kent State ID, FLASHcard!
- See current instructions on how to upload your photo and where to pick up your FLASHcard.
- The FLASHcard is your Kent State University ID card and more. Your card will let you take materials out of the Kent State libraries, access services such as Student Recreation and Wellness Center and athletic events, and purchase goods and services both on and off campus. If you have a meal plan, you will use your FLASHcard to purchase meals in our dining halls.
Parking Permit

Request chosen name
Creating and embracing an inclusive environment is important to the mission of Kent State University. We recognize that some students use a name other than their legal name to identify themselves, so Kent State has established a process for students to request a chosen name.
Here are the steps for indicating a chosen name:
- Log in to FlashLine and select "Student" in the left-hand column.
- Under "Student" select "Resources."
- Under "Resources" select "Requests and Authorizations."
- The webpage will be displayed; double click on "Chosen Name Request."

Move in and attend KSU Kickoff activities!
1. If you are living on campus, review residence hall move-in dates and details.
2. Attend KSU Kickoff the week leading up to fall semester! This is an energetic, fun and unforgettable days-long welcome event! Kickoff activities and events will familiarize you with the KSU community, faculty and staff, make new friends and prepare to start off the fall semester.
