Remembering Harold P. Fry

Professor Harold P. Fry, Ph.D., longtime faculty member in Kent State’s Department of Modern and Classical Language Studies, passed away peacefully this past May. Over a career spanning more than five decades, Dr. Fry shared his love of German language and culture with generations of students, leaving a lasting mark on the Kent State community. He retired in May 2015 but continued to inspire colleagues and students.

Dr. Fry graduated from Hartwick College, before attending Johns Hopkins University and earning a doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Fry is survived by two siblings, two children, two stepchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His quirky sense of humor, puns and quick wit will be missed by so many.
