In Order to Meet its Research Growth Goal, the Kent Campus Will Need More Principal Investigators and Research Labs
KSU has established an ambitious goal – it seeks to double its research awards from $25 million in 2016 to $50 million in 2026. KSU research activity is substantially lower than the KSU peer and KSU aspirational institutions, so research growth is needed to close this gap.
KSU leadership anticipates that research growth will occur within five designation inter-disciplinary areas:
-
Institutes - Brain Health, Advanced Materials
-
Initiatives - Environmental Science and Design, Healthy Communities, Global Understanding
To meet research growth goals, KSU will need to recruit additional productive Principal Investigators (PIs). To do so, the Kent Campus will need new research labs, beyond what can be provided in the Integrated Sciences Building.
Other than the recruitment of highly productive additional Principal Investigators, how might KSU achieve its research growth goal?
