Safe Space Ally
Safe Space Ally Training aims to equip students, faculty and staff with the tools for creating Safe Spaces and welcoming environments for LGBTQ students on campus. Participants will have the opportunity to confront the idea of privilege, learn about the LGBTQ community, interact with students who identify as LGBTQ, and obtain the tools to develop plans for making a difference in their departments and within student interactions. The Safe Space Ally program is a comprehensive, ongoing training offered through the Diversity Equity & Inclusion Training Lab of Kent State University, with the LGBTQ Student Center taking a lead role in providing curriculum and facilitators. The training has the overarching goal of making KSU a safer, more welcoming space for all students. Safe Space Ally Training is a 4 hour training session, which consists of an LGBTQ Vocabulary 101, as well as a panel of students identifying as LGBTQ.
