Kent State Ranks Highest Among Northern Ohio Public Universities on Top Public Schools and Best National Universities Lists in 2021 U.S. News Rankings of Best Colleges

Kent State University shines again in the new 2021 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. Kent State is the highest-ranking public university in Northern Ohio on the Top Public Schools and Best National Universities lists in the newly released rankings.
 
Kent State is again named among the Top Public Schools, ranking No. 109. In addition, Kent State is again included in the Best National Universities list in the coveted top tier, ranking No. 217 in the nation. Kent State is one of only seven Ohio public universities on this prestigious list.
 
“Being recognized as both a top public school and one of the best national universities is a wonderful accomplishment,” said Kent State President Todd Diacon. “Our great faculty experts and strong academic programs make a Kent State degree so valuable. I thank our wonderful faculty members who help Kent State consistently be named in the U.S. News Best Colleges rankings.”
 
Kent State is also included in new 2021 rankings in this latest edition. Kent State places among the top 100 public universities in the nation on the Best Undergraduate Business Programs list and is the top public university in Northern Ohio on this list. Kent State also ranks No. 101 among public universities in the nation on the Top Performers on Social Mobility list, which measures how well schools graduated students who received federal Pell Grants.
 
Each year, students and parents rely on the annual U.S. News Best Colleges rankings to help narrow their college choices and to validate the commitment they are making to a university that best fits their needs. The rankings are now in their 36th year. This latest edition assesses 1,452 U.S. bachelor’s degree-granting institutions.

The U.S. News rankings are based on several factors: graduation and retention rates, social mobility, graduation rate performance, undergraduate academic reputation, faculty resources for the 2019-2020 academic year, student selectivity for the fall 2019 entering class, financial resources per student, average alumni giving rate and graduate indebtedness.
