Why did you decide to come to Kent State?

My professional ambition is to continue participating in meaningful collaborative research that focuses on societal issues and improving the current predicament. I knew that Kent State’s doctorate program would equip me with an equitable path to achieve my academic, professional and personal objectives.

What is your favorite place in Kent?

The Kent State Library and Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MACC) stadium. All the MACC events are free for Kent State students!

What advice do you have for new graduate students?

Practice and improve your listening skills. Good listening skills help us to understand and accept each other. I would also encourage you to exercise self-care and discover some enjoyable hobbies. While participation in class, assignments, homework and writing scientific papers are all a part of graduate education, it’s important to maintain an active social life that allows you to take care of your mental, physical and social health. Kent State has a plethora of excellent events throughout the year, both virtual and in-person. Attend the activities that appeal to you and have a good time. Take care, and welcome to graduate school at Kent State!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Cooking is something that I enjoy doing, and I like to experiment with new recipes. I also enjoy volunteering and interacting with members of the local community. I enjoy spending time on sandy beaches and learning about local cultures and cuisine. Last but not least, I enjoy sleeping. I believe that getting enough sleep allows me to be more active, engaged and happy.
