Meghan Brindley is a doctoral student in the Cultural Foundations of Education (CULT) PhD program. Meghan is currently teaching the Social Foundations undergraduate course offered at the Kent State Tuscarawas campus. Meghan also helps to coordinate the student teaching placements for that regional campus as well.
Meghan started in the Cultural Foundations of Education program through her want to continue answering her educational questions. She originally intended on applying to a different program here at Kent, but was intrigued by the descriptions of the CLUT program. Meghan had the opportunity to observe one of the classes and stated that “The students were having lively conversations about education in a way I had never witnessed before. I took more notes observing in that one night than I had in any of the courses I had previously been enrolled in for my two graduate degrees!” She has been in love with the program ever since.
Meghan’s current research topic includes the pedagogies of “interruption,” specifically in the realm of teacher education. Meghan’s paper on this topic has also been recently accepted to be presented at the 2022 Philosophy of Education Society Conference.
After completing the PhD program, Meghan hopes to continue teaching and become a professor of social foundations.
