JOB DESCRIPTION

I serve as a course lecturer for Criminal Justice Studies and an instructor at the Police Academy. I also assist in collaborating efforts by fostering relationships and training efforts with local community agencies, high schools, and after-school programs to build a more diverse curriculum and cohesive relationship between Kent State Trumbull and the local community.

Kent State University has been extremely welcoming as I have transitioned out of the military. My first day on campus I had numerous faculty and staff members stop by my office and welcome me. When I participated in the convocation in August at the main campus, I was in awe of all the amazing colleagues I had the privilege of meeting. Kent State University has so much to offer students, staff, and faculty and it truly feels like a big family.

ATTRACTION TO KENT STATE AS AN EMPLOYER:

I found this position as I was preparing to retire from the U.S. Army. This position was an instant attraction because it combined two passions I have in my life - law enforcement and instruction in higher education. When I came for my interview from Fort Riley, KS, I immediately felt welcomed by everyone and felt that my experiences were appreciated and valued. I knew while I was serving in the military that I wanted to be a professor. I am so thankful I got to return to my home state and achieve that goal. I love that the regional campuses offer a small campus feel while still offering a connection to the main campus. It allows for students from all backgrounds to be a part of the Kent State community in varying capacities.

HOBBIES:

I am married and have three children. We enjoy family trips in our camper, fishing and going out on our boat. I personally love sports of all kinds, crafting and collecting Rae Dunn items.
