School of Music alum Corey Knick takes a part in connecting pianists and KSU alumni through the Piano Cleveland Social Club

As the administrative and events coordinator at Piano Cleveland, Kent State University School of Music alum Corey Knick has organized a lot of concerts and events. In doing so he saw an opportunity to bring people together and benefit local musicians.

The Piano Cleveland Social Club was born out the idea that there are a lot of great music schools, like the Kent State University School of Music, in northeast Ohio producing high-level pianists who stay local after graduating. Corey Knick and his team at Piano Cleveland wanted to find a way to not only connect these musicians as an organization, but also to bring people together to connect with each other, whether it be for artistic support, sharing gigs, or just having fun. The music world in Cleveland and northeast Ohio is small, but there is a lot less overlap than you might think. Local musicians tends to stick with their core group of friends or connections, and a group like the Piano Cleveland Social Club would be beneficial in helping pianists expand their professional and social networks. The goal of the Club is to gather pianists of all genres and walks of life in a welcoming and supportive environment designed for professional growth and social outings. While there are a lot of fun plans in the works for the club, the hope is that the members will help dictate how the group grows and evolves over time.

Mark your calendars for the launch of the Piano Cleveland Social Club on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at Forest City Brewery. Food and drink will be provided. Please note this event is for pianists ages 21 and older. Contact Corey Knick at corey.knick@pianocleveland.org with any questions.
