Biography
I received my bachelor's and master's degrees from Kent State University and taught preschool, kindergarten and fifth grade in Northeastern Ohio. I pursued my doctorate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Curriculum and Instruction so that I could find answers to the many questions that emerged in my work with children and families. My areas of interest include family diversity, the formation of teacher and student identities, and curriculum development that is inclusive for all children. I am co-founder (with Dr. Tammy Turner-Vorbeck) of the Family Diversity Education Council, a non-profit organization. We are currently developing the Journal of Family Diversity in Education to be launched spring 2014.
