SPOTLIGHT ON LEGACY DONOR JOSEPH H. NEFF ESQ.
Joseph H. Neff, B.S. Criminal Justice Studies ’85 honors his father’s legacy by creating The Frank J. and Cecilia G. Neff Endowed Scholarship for Disabled Students in the College of Arts and Sciences.
The Neff family has a strong family connection to Kent State University. Joseph’s father, Frank, earned a B.A. in Political Science in 1957. His uncle, Donald L. Neff, graduated from Kent State University 1967 with a B.S. in Mathematics. It was Joseph’s father, however, that influenced his career choice: both Joseph and his father, Frank, became attorneys with an interest in helping people. Joseph, Assistant Vice President and Account Manager of Chicago Title Insurance Company, serves as legal counsel and underwrites commercial and residential transactions. Frank was a long-time practicing attorney representing the injured and disabled in Columbus, Ohio.
With his father in mind, Joseph recently established The Frank J. and Cecilia G. Neff Endowed Scholarship for Disabled Students, designated for students in the College of Arts and Sciences. This is the first scholarship of its nature in the College of Arts and Sciences, and one of only two at Kent State. “My father was an attorney in Columbus for over 45 years. With great pride for his firm, he created the slogan 'Dedicated to representing the injured and disabled.' I am creating this scholarship to continue the legacy of my father’s diligent work helping empower those facing hardship with disabilities.”
Joseph is an active member of the Kent State Columbus Alumni Chapter and has attended nearly every Kent State Homecoming game since he graduated. Go Flashes!
