Biography

Anuj Gurung earned his PhD in 2019 from the Political Science Department at Kent State University. In addition to being a well-trained scholar in political science and conflict resolution, Anuj is an ardent advocate of refugee rights. His dissertation—an ethnographic research—examines refugee resettlement from Bhutanese refugees’ perspectives. While refugee integration continues to be defined by the host country’s structures, refugee communities find social space to re-define their agency and identities. Part of his applied research is highlighted in the SPCS website.

Anuj currently teaches at Kent State’s School of Peace and Conflict Studies (SPCS), where he has covered Introduction to Conflict Management, International Conflict Resolution, and Conflict Theory. His pedagogy is informed by his extensive experience in field research and community engagement. His teaching style embodies accessibility and a commitment to learning. He prides in creating an inclusive, dialectical environment in the classroom.
