PRESIDENT AND CEO OF AKRON-CANTON FOODBANK TO SPEAK AT KENT STATE ON MARCH 10

Dan Flowers, president and CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will present “Living and Loving Your ‘Non-Profitness’” at Kent State University on Thursday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Kiva. Flowers will talk about finding your purpose, place and potential in the nonprofit sector, and what it takes to persist over time. This event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Flowers has been the president and CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank since 2003. Since his tenure, the food bank has experienced significant growth, increasing food distribution from 9.1 million pounds to more than 26 million pounds in 2014.

Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable items, and those participating will receive a raffle ticket. FLASHperks also are available.

This presentation is the second event of the semester for the Nonprofit Spotlight Speaker Series. The first event was presented on Feb. 4 by Ming-Hao Shiao, Ed.M., director of education and employment for the International Institute of Akron. This event is sponsored by the Business Professionals Roundtable, Human Development and Family Studies program, Nonprofit Studies program and Delta Sigma Pi.
