KENT – Kent State Men's Basketball (13-7) will host the University of Akron (15-5) on Friday, Jan. 31 inside the M.A.C. Center. Tipoff between the Golden Flashes and Zips is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

Most recently, Kent State dominated the Bowling Green State University Falcons on Jan. 28 by a final score of 75-57. Cian Medley's double-double consisted of 12 points and 10 assists, which led the Flashes. It was his fifth double-digit game of the season. VonCameron Davis' 24 points were his 51st double-digit performance of his career. Jalen Sullinger continued his high scoring ways with 18 points coming in second for KSU on the stat line. This was his 60th double-digit performance of his career. Marquis Barnett was honored during pregame for recently surpassing 1,000 career points prior to adding 10 more to his total over the course of the night. Delrecco Gillespie led the Flashes in rebounding with seven. It was his sixth time leading KSU in that category this season.
The School Down The Road
Kent State University and the University of Akron are separated by just 12 miles. The Golden Flashes' overall record against the Zips is 82-83 with UA winning all three of last year's meetings. According to records, Kent State's first meeting with the school down the road was during the first varsity season 108 years ago during the 1915-1916 season with Akron winning 37-16. KSU's first win in the series was during the 1926-1927 season by a final score of 23-21.
