Lin Danes
Biography
Lin Danes serves as the executive director of digital communications for Kent State University. She and her team oversee the development and implementation of digital strategies that advance the university’s brand. She has managed a large body of work, inclusive of website redesigns for www.kent.edu and migrations of the university's large, complex website to two different content management systems. She was also part of the initial launch team for the university's portal. Each of these projects came on the heels of usability testing and focus groups, which she spearheaded. While she actively serves as a web presence project manager, she is also responsible for contributing to the university's crisis communication plan, as well as research, requirements gathering, content strategy, quality assurance and vendor selection related to other digital solutions, and SEO efforts with our partners.
Prior to joining UCM in 2000, she served as a communications specialist at Summa Health System, writer/Webmaster for Harker Inc. and continuity director for WYFM/WPIC/WRBP radio. She has won the Kent State President's Excellence Award, was nominated for six Kent State Distinguished Staff Awards and has earned communications awards from Higher Ed Marketing, the Council of Advancement & Support for Education (CASE), IABC and the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, Media Awards Program. She has also served as an Internet Advertising Competition (IAC) judge for web, integrated media and social media entries.
She earned her master's degree in public administration from Kent State University and a bachelor's degree in communication from Clarion University.
