Budget Elements and Fiscal Cycle

The university's budget can be categorized into two major categories of capital and operating budgets. Capital budgets consist of facilities projects, new construction and renovations. Operating budgets consist of the day-to-day activities of the institution and can be further categorized by their budget structure. The categories are defined as Education & General (E&G) and Auxiliary Enterprises. Units are considered Auxiliary Enterprises if they generate their own revenue and do not receive state funds. Education & General units are funded by tuition and fees, state share of instruction and other income derived through education.
