Kent State Opera Theatre Presents “The WKSO Radio Hour"

Kent, OH– Kent State Opera Theatre presents "The WKSO Radio Hour," featuring three one-acts on Friday, March 8, through Sunday, March 10.

Experience a night out at the opera with Kent State Opera Theatre! This year’s Spring production, “The WKSO Radio Hour,” will be reminiscent of radio programs of the mid-20th century.

"Gian-Carlo Menotti's 'The Old Maid and the Thief' originally premiered on NBC Radio in 1939. Building on that idea, we have taken the piece and added two additional one-act productions to recreate a radio program from that era,"  said Tim Culver, stage director and professor of voice at Kent State University.

In addition to being fully staged, the program will also incorporate a 'chorus of the airways' who will sing commercial jingles throughout and provide sound effects.

The opera repertoire includes three one-acts: Gian-Carlo Menotti's "The Old Maid and the Thief," and Seymour Barab's "Passion in the Principal's Office" and "The Ruined Maid."
