FACULTY SPOTLIGHT: CATHY DUBOIS, ASSOCIATE DEAN
Cathy DuBois, associate dean for administration in the College of Business Administration, just returned from a recruiting trip to India, but said she cannot wait to return again in the fall.
“I love to travel,” DuBois said. “The more of the world I can experience, the better.”
DuBois traveled to India to recruit students, explore potential partnerships with Indian universities and meet with business colleagues.
In several locations, DuBois gave a talk on “Business as an Agent of World Benefit” and at other locations she gave presentations on Kent State University’s College of Business Administration degree programs. She also met individually and in small groups with recruiting agents and potential students.
“I met with students one on one,” DuBois said. “We discussed the programs, application procedures and criteria, the university, the city of Kent; just typical things students would want and need to know in order to apply to our programs.”
She said the students in India are well prepared in math and have very good English skills, as well as interpersonal skills. DuBois drew attention to the benefits of Indian students studying in Kent: students can gain life experiences in the United States while earning a degree from Kent State University and their student peers can grow by learning about India.
“India’s rapidly growing economy boasts a population in excess of 1.2 billion people, most of whom are at the base of the economic pyramid. India is the world’s most populous democracy and holds significant business potential,” DuBois said. “An influx of students from India, along with potential travel and study opportunities in India offers our students opportunities to broaden their understanding of a developing country and the realm of possibilities it offers.”
DuBois is set to return to India in the fall.
