Kent State’s College of Business Administration welcomes the addition of The Tech Spot, an on-site technology service and repair center to the second floor of the Business Administration Building. “Effective Fall 2014, the College of Business Administration implemented the Freshmen Computer Requirement,” said Maureen Kennedy, director of financial and business operations for the College of Business Administration. “In support of this requirement, COBA partnered with Kent State’s Information Services division to establish The Tech Spot for in-house service.” The Tech Spot, scheduled to open October 17, offers technology service, support and sales. The Tech Spot services PCs, laptops, iPads, tablets and mobile devices of all brands. The Tech Spot will be open Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the second floor of the College of Business Administration in room A222, between the Delta Sigma Pi Café and the BSA computer labs. The Tech Spot will be closed on the weekend. The Tech Spot team offers free network, wireless and login support and for an affordable fee, offers the following services:

· Hardware Install & Repair
· Software Optimization
· Operating System Troubleshooting
· Mobile Device and iPad Repair
· Apple & Dell Computer Warranty Service.
The Tech Spot will also sell Ethernet cables, coaxial TV cables and USB printer cables. The Tech Spot repair and diagnostic service fees start at 25 dollars and range up to 85 dollars. Payment can be made with Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card and FLASHcash. Cash and checks are not accepted. The Tech Spot also offers a year-long protection plan, TECHcare, for 120 dollars. TECHcare membership includes unlimited computer repair service for one year, all custom part-order handling fees waived and 25 percent off any TECHcare renewal. The Tech Spot is an authorized service provider for Dell and Apple computers. Tech Spot can repair and order authentic Dell and Apple replacement parts as part of your manufacturer warranty. The Tech Spot’s Lead IT User Support Analyst Mike Carson will be overseeing the operation at the College of Business Administration.
