KENT, Ohio – In an effort to enhance career readiness and share faculty expertise more broadly, the Kent State College of Business Administration recently launched two new podcast series.

Survey data shows that an increasing number of people are listening to podcasts regularly,” said Deborah F. Spake, Ph.D., dean of the College of Business Administration. “In an effort to better serve our students and the business community, our communication strategy now includes offering helpful and timely information via podcast.”

In August, the College’s Career Services Office launched Ready for Business. This podcast, which covers a range of career readiness topics, provides students and alumni with a mobile micro-learning experience. Ready for Business uses an audio storytelling format that brings together recorded interviews with employers, recent graduates, faculty and business students to present useful recommendations and action steps for those pursuing full-time jobs or internships. Topics have included best practice on developing cover letters, perfecting a résumé and personal online branding.

Episodes were released bi-weekly throughout the fall semester and the series will return in fall 2020. All episodes can be accessed at https://www.kent.edu/business/kent-state-college-business-podcast.

Beginning in spring 2020, the College will release episodes of a second podcast series, Breaking Down Business. This podcast features high-impact faculty research and business concepts with the goal of helping listeners understand timely and relevant business topics. Episodes include an in-depth look the College’s Golden Flash Asset Management Team and how these students choose investment portfolios; and what it means to be a data analyst and how data drives business decisions.

New episodes of Breaking Down Business will be released bi-weekly beginning in January.
