Kent State Sales Students Celebrate Success at 2024 Global Bilingual Sales Competition

KENT, Ohio - Kent State student Daniel Andrade was named the 2024 Global Bilingual Sales Champion at the Global Bilingual Sales Competition.

In addition, student Maria Torres secured a finalist position in the Spanish event, finishing third overall. Daniel and Maria competed against students from Spain, Peru and Venezuela as well as from universities across the country. This marked Kent State University’s first time participating in this competition.

The Global Bilingual Sales Competition, hosted by Florida International University, brings together universities and organizations to promote the sales profession at a global level. Through simulated sales call role plays in English and Spanish and numerous networking activities, students are able to showcase their sales skills to corporate recruiters. The competition tested participants’ skills through challenges, including sales role plays, elevator pitches, and bilingual presentations in English and Spanish. During the three-day competition, Daniel and Maria navigated eight role plays in two languages before 24 judges.

In addition to being named 2024 Global Bilingual Sales Champion, Daniel was a finalist in both the Spanish and English events.

Torres showcased her talent by securing a finalist position in the Spanish event, finishing third overall.

“I am so proud of Daniel and Maria for their incredible performance at this competition,” said Ellen Daniels, sales program coordinator and faculty advisor. “Their performance showcased a breadth of talent as well as their dedication and hard work.”
