The KnitLAB is home to 4 industrial knitting machines and 16 programming stations for digital knitting. The idea behind the KnitLAB is to be a space that is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about digital knitting and testing and exploring the potential for knitted prototypes. We welcome anyone from students to faculty, researchers, industry and community. While the equipment is advanced we look to make the threshold to entry as low as possible. The KnitLAB also work with industry and engage interdisciplinary research projects. The cost for participating depends on the level of complexity, engagement and size of project. We expect students to take the time to follow tutorials and learn how to develop their own knitted piece rather than operate as a full service provider. The KnitLAB is run by student workers with some experience in digital knitting.
