Career and Community Studies Programs

Career and Community Studies (CCS) integrates inclusive classes, a typical college experience, and a transition curriculum to assist students in achieving adult roles and a quality of life in a community of their choice.

CCS offers three different program options:

Four-Year Program

Career and Community Studies offers a four-year, non-degree program designed to prepare students for adult life through academic pursuits, peer socialization, and career discovery and preparation.

Students are enrolled in Career and Community Studies courses, Kent State Primary Courses, and Career Courses.

Two-Year College Preparation Program

The College Preparation program is a two-year course of study that concentrates on student development and improvement of academic and social skills in order to prepare for a degree program.

Two-Year Employment Readiness Program

The Employment Readiness program is a two-year course of study that concentrates on employment and life readiness. Students will complete practicum experiences in jobs of interest to best focus on development of employability and life skills.
