Kent State University President Beverly Warren will deliver the State of the University address on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Kiva. Kent State faculty, staff, students and members of the community are invited to attend the event, which is themed “Living the Kent State Promise.”
A reception will follow in the Kent Student Center. Regional locations will host watch events for their campus communities.
University seeks national recognition for commitment to community engagement
Kent State University is in the early stages of preparing to apply for Carnegie Community Engagement Classification from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. The Carnegie Community Engagement Classification recognizes higher education institutions for evidence-based institutional commitment to community engagement.
Following a national search, Wendy Turner has been selected to serve as the new executive director and general manager of WKSU, Kent State University’s award-winning NPR-affiliated radio station. Turner currently serves as vice president of digital and technical operations at Chicago Public Media. She will begin her new role at WKSU on Oct. 31, 2016.
Kent State University’s Parking and Transit Services is piloting a parking app this fall for commuter lots. When the app is fully operational, it will allow users to determine if a parking lot is full or has vacant spaces. As part of the pilot program, the commuter lot behind Verder Hall will be the first to use the technology.
