Kent State University has set an aggressive agenda for academic excellence across all areas of the university's Strategic Roadmap. The average person gains six to 10 pounds over the holiday season, says Tanya Falcone, registered dietitian and nutritional outreach coordinator at Kent State University. This can lead to significant weight gain over the years that does not shed, even after the New Year.

The Peace Basket Project gears up for its 21st year. The Professional Women of Kent State University started the Peace Basket Project in 1997, when a group of members created baskets of “little things” to share with the residents served by the King Kennedy Center. While the Professional Women of Kent State University is no longer active, this annual event continues with the support of members of the Kent State community.
Area residents who dread Christmas shopping but love giving and getting gifts are invited to a holiday shopping alternative — the Holiday Scavenger Hunt — in Kent beginning on Black Friday.
Those who successfully complete the scavenger hunt between Friday, Nov. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 20, could win a $1,000 Hometown Bank MasterCard — just in time for the holidays.

Twelve years ago, a team of Kent State University faculty members discovered their common hobby of playing instruments at a Department of Psychological Sciences’ event. After that, they created a band that now performs under the name Diminished Faculties.

As a Kent State student-athlete, he earned eight varsity letters in golf, football and ice hockey, and several other sports achievements. Now, he is one of the most respected coaches in the country.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed Kent State University in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Kent State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
